Appearance:
Alyssa has always been tall for her age, and for being a girl. She stands at a height of five feet and eleven inches. Her height helps add to her slender appearence. Alyssa is taller in her legs then her torso, and like to play up the fact that she has nice legs. Red hair goes down to Alyssa's shoulders in loose waves, and is normally pulled up when she's working. Alyssa has green eyes and normally doesn't wear her black, square-framed glasses, but sometimes she will. Alyssa has a tattoo on her left shoulder blade of a heart. Alyssa also has a scar extending from her left eyebrow down to her cheek from when she was in a car-crash.
Alyssa's clothing style ranges anywhere from gothic to sophisticated. Depending on her mood for the day is what Alyssa would wear; however, if Alyssa is on call or at work she tends to keep her clothing on a more professional level. Alyssa always wears the same necklace to work though: it's a gold chain with a silver heart on it.
Personality:
Alyssa has always been a quiet and smart girl. She is very shy when it comes to meeting new people, but when she gets to know a person, it doesn't take long before Alyssa is talking and just having a fun time with that person. She loves to have a good time with her friends, and is just a general happy person. Alyssa cares a lot about her job and her friends and family, and will stick up for them no matter what the cost. While Alyssa can be a really fun and outgoing person, she's also very serious and determined when it comes to her job. Alyssa doesn't let personal attacks on her effect the way she performs or act. She handles pain and tramatic events in her own way: by being by herself and not letting anything effect her. The only thing that really effects her is her patients.
Alyssa has a hard time with patients' deaths because she gets too attached to the people that she's working with, even though she knows that they will die. Everytime that she has to be around for the death of a patient, Alyssa still cries over their death and is depressed for the rest of the day.
History:
Alyssa was the first born in her family. She was born in New York City, New York. Alyssa and her family lived in New York until Ali was five, at which time her and her family moved to a small subrub area of Washington DC. At this time, Alyssa started school. She was sent to an all-girls private school, which she hated. When Alyssa was eight her family moved back to New York. Life was pretty normal with the Ross family until two years later. Catherin got pregnant for the second time, competely unplaned. It was debated that the Ross family was going to put the newest baby up for adoption, but Ali wanted a sibling.
After the new baby, Amanda, was born Ali and her family moved to New Jersery. Ali made her way through school without much trouble. When she was in middle school Ali made a really good friend named Colby. Colby and Ali soon became inseperable. It was in eighth grade that Ali even started to think that her and Colby could become more. For high school, Ali went to a private academy for her music against her wishes. In order to survive through her Freshman year, Ali made friends with another girl named Carmen, and still wrote to Colby.
During the first summer of high school, Alyssa told her parents to stop interfering with her life, and that she wanted to go to a normal public school with all of her old friends. While attending the public school, Ali reunited with Colby and to her surprise, Carmen. The three of them became the best of friends, and were known all around the school. Ali worked really hard with the theatre program and the orchestra program at her school, soon becoming one of the top actresses and musicans in the school.
It was during her Junior year of high school that Ali started dating. She had been asked out to dinner by Colby. Ali agreed, and they soon found out that they weren't meant to be anything more then friends. Alyssa didn't care that it didn't work out with Colby. Later that year, right before her 18th birthday, Alyssa experienced her first death. Colby had died in a car-crash. Alyssa used the support of Carmen to help her through her harsh time. Her parents didn't even lend any support. It was at this point that Carmen came out of the closet, and ended up making out with Alyssa. Carmen ended up telling everyone in the school that they had made out, and it ruined Ali's reputation at her school.
For her Senior year, Ali went back to a private academy. During her Senior year, one of the administrators of the school took notice that Ali hadn't declared a major for study, and wanted to find out what Ali was going to do once she got in college. Ali decided that instead of taking music as her major, like her father wanted her to do, or taking acting, like her mother wanted her to, she was going to become a doctor. Ali was accepted into Princeton University for college, and she went to study there, not only for her undergraduate, but also for her medical degree in Oncology.
After graduating from Princeton, Alyssa didn't want to imidiatly jump into the world of medicince. She took a year off and worked at a resturant until she had enough money for her own apartment. After a year she found out that Princeton-Plainsboro was looking for interns and applied there, hoping she could get her job under way.
Alyssa now lives in New Jersey, about ten miles from the hospital in an apartment that her sister shares with her whenever Amanda isn't in New York studying. Both of Alyssa's parents live in Vermont.
Role Play Sample:
Maybe this whole thing was a bad idea. She had never been in a situation such as this one. Nerves were defiantly the choice of words to use in this situation. The same thoughts fluttered through her head over and over again: Will the doctors like me? Will I make a good impression? Am I really cut out for this job? What if I don't do a good job? She couldn't seem to make the voices in her head settle down for more then five seconds. It was like this everytime she had to go an meet new people who would eventually be effecting her future within the walls of this hospital.
Alyssa Ross' highheels clicked rhythmically against the titled floor of the hospital. She was told to report to a Doctor James E. Wilson in order to start her first day as an intern. It was daunting, to say the least. Stopping at the nurse's station, Alyssa got directions to the doctor's office. The elevator ride was the longest in history. She fixed her blue v-neck shirt and her black skirt twice before the doors opened. Stepping out of the elevator, Alyssa look around, taking in the sites of all the doctors rushing by.
She was in heaven. Alyssa turned to find the office door of "James E. Wilson Head of Oncology" staring her in the face. Once again her heels made the rhythmic tapping as she crossed the distance to the door. Knocking gently, Alyssa was ready to start her new life as part of the oncology department.
