Ash hugged her knees to her chest and she felt tears leak down her face. Her brother ruffled her hair and smiled softly down at her, he had actually managed to stay clean for at least 2 days so he could actually spend time with Ash on her 16th birthday. She tipped back the vodka bottle in her hand and manage to empty about half its contents. He knew she would be extra depressed today because it was exactly a year ago on her 15th birthday that she got in the car accident with her parents and was the only one pulled from it. She wished that they could have left her there to die with her parents instead of saving her. Why did she have to be the only one to live threw it? Sure she got really banged up and everything but her parents had to die just because she wanted to go to a stupid concert on her birthday. She took a deep breath and watched her brother walk out the door of their large house. Their parents had a lot of money and she lived a pretty good life but now it felt like none of that mattered, she didn't care about life any more.
She had tried several times to kill her self but her brother was always walking in at the wrong time and stopping her. But today she was determined to finish her self. Every girl is supposed to be happy on their sweet 16 right? Ash wasn't. She wanted to be with her parents and knew there was only 1 way to do that, death. She stood up off the couch and walked into her large bedroom and opened her closet. She pulled out a gorgeous pink fairytale like dress that she was supposed to wear for this big party she was planing, but she wasn't going to go. She put the dress on and did her hair up and her make up all nice. She looked gorgeous. She felt more tears leak down her delicate soft pale cheeks and she tucked a strand of black hair behind her ear. She walked into the master bathroom and slipped on her pink sparkly matching heels as she turned the water on.
She reached underneath the bathtub and took out a case of razor blades and managed to open it with shaky hands. She touched the razor blade softly to the gold heart shaped locket hanging around her neck and bit her lip as she pressed the blade to her chest plate and drug it deep across it a few times. She winced and her breath quickened as the blood dripped onto her pink dress. She then stopped the tub and touched her hand to the icy cold water. She pressed the blade to her left arm and drug it deep and watched the blood trickle into the water. She did it several times deep and long from her wrist to her elbow and a few times deep on her right arm. She managed to crawl into the bathtub and sink her self under the water. It didn't take her long to pass out from the blood loss and start to drown. The water was tainted red and her pretty pink dress had some red splotches on it.
Her brother walked into the bathroom and panicked when he saw his slowly dieing sister. Apparently staying clean wasn't for him because he was pretty high right now. He called up his friend who brought his truck over and her brother grabbed her out of the bath tub and ran her out side. He didn't bother trying to stop the bleeding, he also didn't notice that she was hardly breathing. It was raining hard out side and extremely cold. But did they bother to cover her up? They just left her bleeding in the bed of the truck. Her brother and his friends weren't the smartest. They pulled up to the ER and instead of running her in they simply picked her up and tossed her over the side of the truck onto the side walk while the truck was still moving. She hit the ground hard and now while the cold rain pounded down on her the blood from her arms and now the back of her head mixed with the rain water and she stopped breathing. Was she really that hard to notice?

The light on his cellphone blinked repeatedly, only proving to irritate the owner. Ross pulled his coat over the cellphone, which hung on his belt, to mask the light, and kept his attention on his patient. "Like I said, it's probably just a bad case of the flu. You just need to take him home and put him to bed, ma'am. Make sure he gets his fluids. If he's not better after a week then bring him back." He told the worried mother with a smile, half way out the door.
The messages were probably from Nik, he figured. As he left the clinic to grab his things he listened to the five messages, four of which he couldn't understand because she talked so damn fast all the time. James shook his head and placed the phone in his pocket as he headed out into the rain. He always parked out back and to get there he had to pass the Ambulance Entrance.
This evening he say something laying on the sidewalk. Wrinkling his brow he picked up the pace. When he was close enough to see the form was a human his quick walk turned into a full run. He crouched down next to her, pressing a couple fingers lightly against her neck. There was a pulse, though it was very weak, so he leaned over to see if he could hear her breathing. Nothing.
He cursed to himself softly, picking her up and rushing into the Emergency Room. A couple of nurses came to meet him as he laid her down on one of the beds. Instantly he took a resuscitation bag, placing it over her nose and mouth and tilting her chin up to open her air ways. As he began to squeeze and release the bag to pump air in the nurses began to tend to the cuts. It took some time, but soon she began to breathe again and the wounds were properly bandaged.
One of the nurses handed James a towel and he proceeded to wipe the blood off his arms and hands. Luckily his jacket prevented any of the blood from ruining his suit, so he didn't worry about that. A nurse suggested he should leave, but instead he decided to stay. After all, he could find no identification on the girl so there was no way to call her family and he didn't want to leave her here alone.
Dr. Ross wheeled a stool next to the girl's bed, sitting down. He stopped, calling up Nik to inform her he'd be running late tonight and to tell her he had left overs in the fridge. Hanging up, he just sat there, waiting to see if the girl would wake up tonight. [[ ooc;; sorry for the godmodding there, but i'm assuming you don't want her to die. ^^;; If you want anything to be changed just let me know. ]]

Several things were going threw Asphodel's head once she hit the ground. The first and most obvious was 'whats going on?' and the second was why her brother did this to her? He could have walked her and at least dumped her infront of some people. Instead of just leaving her in the rain to bleed to death. She was out cold and totally didnt know what was going on but she did know that she started to feel really warm despite the fact that cold rain was still pouring down on her. She saw a gorgeous scene, green grass and flowers with a small white house in the distance. She had seen this house before in her dreams. Her parents walked out and she smiled, she looked down and noticed she was back in her pink princess dress, hair and make up done perfectly and all the cuts on her arms were gone. Mom? She questioned but just ran up and hugged her mom and dad instead. She missed them so much. They talked for quite some time, she felt like they were back home and that she wasent dreaming all of this but then they told her she had to go. She wanted to stay with them.
After being pushed out of the light and warm feeling that she got reality began to sink back in. She could hear people talking above her and she was starting to wonder what happened. Her eyes slowly flickered open and she could feel tears on her cheeks. Her head was pounding and she could feel the cut covered with a bandage. She noticed that she wasent in her dress any more, she was in a hospital gown and bandages wrapped up both her arms nice and tight. Her chest felt like some one was stabbing it. A mixture from attempting to drown her self and the fact that she had lung cancer, just no one knew it yet. She was hoping they wouldnt find it, maybe it would kill her. Since she obviously couldnt do it her self.
It was kind of sad, to see a 16 year old with such a desire to die. She was hardly even 16. She was supposed to be 16 in a couple of hours, happy birthday? She wanted to get up and run or do something. She knew she didnt want to be hear. She was attatched to IV's putting blood back in her system and a drip of saline. Her heart rate was still tachy, it had been ever since she got hooked up and that wasent really normal for her heart rate to be extremly high. Especialy after it almost cut off completly. Her caramel brown eyes held fear and pain that no 16 year old should feel.
Turning her head to the side a little she noticed a small stuffed dog sitting on a table by the bed. That was the stuffed dog that was clutched her arms when her brother dumped her off the side of the truck. That was the one thing she had left that her parent ahd fiven her, her brother had pretty much sold everything else for drugs. A shaky hand reached out for the stuffed dog but she frowned when she failed to grab it. The table was a bit to far away for her to reach and she didnt really feel like moving much. She was surprised she wasent strapped to a bed or in some padded room. Usualy people that tried to kill them selves were locked up...right? Maybe they didnt see her as that much of a threat because she was fairly petite. They just didnt know how much of a punch she packed. "What happened?" She whispered as she noticed some one sitting next to her. Her voice was scratchy and it hurt to talk. She covered her mouth and let out a noticeably painful cough. Pulling back her hand she noticed little flecks of blood but ignored it. That had been happening for a day or 2. She closed her eyes and tried to remember but all she could remember was slitting her wrists then everything else was a blur. She wished she had killed her self, then maybe she could be with her parents. [/blockquote]

While waiting for the girl to wake up Jamie noticed Nik sent him a text message. Apparently she decided to go out and would "probably be back tomorrow." He growled silently to himself; he never disapproved of her over night parties or trips or whatever she was doing. It would be pointless to simply get up and leave now, though. Besides, Ross didn't have the heart to leave the poor girl alone.
For some time he thought she might come to, but mostly false alarms. The girl seemed restless in her unconscious state, seemingly trying to wake up and stay unconscious at the same time. Ross only moved to check his cell phone, as if expecting another call. At one point, just as he was checking his phone, he noticed her moving. The male instantly directed his attention to her. Apparently she was reaching for her stuffed animal, but couldn't reach.
Always the hero, James stood up and walked around her bed. When she spoke he looked in her direction, picking up her stuffed toy. Her cough caused him to furrow his brow, especially when he saw blood. For now he dismissed it as trauma and made a mental note to have a nurse take another look at her injuries.
"You were brought in with severe cuts on your arms and chest." He said, returning to his chair and holding out the stuffed dog to her. In case she couldn't remember he didn't want to say he found her bleeding on the sidewalk, most likely dumped there carelessly.
"My name is Dr. Ross," his introduction came with a friendly smile. "What's yours?" Ross didn't want to throw too many questions at her at once, so decided to get her name first and work his way from there.

Asphodel looked up at the man as he handed her the stuffed dog and she hugged it tightly to her chest. Her hand fiddled with it for a moment and she felt the bump in the dog's leg informing her that her back up plan was in there. She was glad that she had thought up a back up plan for if she didn't kill her self the first time. All though now that she was in a hospital it would be a little harder to do her back up plan. She had hidden inside her stuffed dog, a syringe with a dose of Heroin that would be lethal to her. Her lovely brother had helped her measure everything out, what a lovely brother! First he helps her fill a syringe with enough heroin to make her OD then he dumps her off at the hospital after her first attempt at suicide.
She had a feeling that if she failed again to kill her self, they would probably shove her in a room and tie her to a bed so she wouldn't hurt her self or any one else. Asphodel had a temper on her, a dangerous temper and when you mix that with a strong will to die things can usually go bad for you or some one else. She was OK with those odds though. All she wanted to do lately was die, she had attempted it many times before, but never did it right. This morning was her biggest attempt yet. She still couldn't believe that she failed again, thats all she ever did in life was fail.
She snapped out of planning her next attempt at death to hear him ask for her name. She kept her caramel brown gaze at the stuffed dog and sighed a little, almost like she was bored with all the small talk and had something more important to do. And in her mind she did, committing suicide was more important then anything. Just cause she was in a hospital didn't mean she was going to stop, she wasn't going to stop until she was with her mom and dad again, then she would be happy.
"Asphodel Monroe...But Ash is fine." her voice was small and soft to start out with. Her chest still hurt and breathing felt like a hard task. She closed her eyes a little bit then opened them and looked down at her bandaged arms. She furrowed her eye brows a bit and tilted her head to the side and remembered slightly what happened. She also remembered it was her birthday, her stupid birthday. The same day that her parents died exactly a year ago. This memory sent her into a worsened mood. She moved her right hand to her left arm where the bandages were and started to unwrap it. She didn't want those on. Once she got it unwrapped she looked at all the cuts that laced up her arm, some small and some large with stitches in them. She started to pick at some of the stitches but couldn't get any of them undone.
She looked up at the Doctor again then hugged her stuffed animal to her chest and pushed the bandages off to the side and sat up a bit more. "I have to go to the bathroom." She whispered and wiped tears from her caramel brown eyes. She started disconnecting her self from everything she was attached to and yanked the Iv's out of her arm. She was used to pain, it was obvious by the new and old cuts that she had gone threw lots of pain before, she kind of liked the pain. She kicked the blankets off and stood up and almost fell. Her legs felt a little wobbly. She noticed she was in a hospital gown and didn't see her bloody pink dress any where. She grabbed the dog and wobbled her way to the bathroom and shut the door.
She set her dog on the counter and turned it over and found the little slit in the leg. She took out the syringe with the drug all ready in it and pulled out a little tie strip thing of rubber and sat on the edge of the counter. She tied it around her upper left arm and waited a few minutes to find the vain. After finding it among the cuts she pressed the needle and slid it into her skin. A slight wince as she pushed all the drugs into her arm and then she took a deep breath. She was small and the large amount rushed into her system quickly.
A minute or so passed and she could hardly stand. Her legs were to wobbly and her breathing was getting slower. It only took about another 2 minutes for her to hit the ground with a loud thud and her breathing stopped for the 2nd time that day. The tie was off her arm and the syringe was still in her hand. She was out cold, her lips were turning a light blue color and her skin was pale and cold to the touch. She was hoping that this was it. She wanted this to be her death, it was taking to long. Her stomach turned and as gross as it sounded she started to choke on her own vomit. Either way, she was planning on dieing today, she didn't think any one was going to find her out cold overdosed on the bathroom floor of a hospital. She just hoped Doctor Ross didn't hear her hit the floor. [/blockquote]

Post by Dr. Shiloh Webb on Dec 12, 2008 17:19:12 GMT -5
Shiloh Webb found the small tune coming from under his breath slowly deteriorating from a happy use of vocals to a careless whistle. Never a good sign. That little change always meant two things; One, his i-pod was dead and two, he was getting bored. Neither of these were anything he held any joy in at all. Already his mind was getting off track from what was really important. For most people, it wouldn't really matter, considering he was on break, but then again he wasn't "most people". Oh no, nothing was worse than boredom and loneliness.
He had found himself mindlessly wandering about and people watching, another one of the doctors odd little habits. Honestly, sometimes he wondered if he and his patients had something in common. Anyway, his bored eyes rolled over the crowds huddled throughout the hospital. As he moved about, less and less of the groups seemed to wear the mandatory lab coats until it finally struck him that he had wandered into the ER. After passing by the first few beds, he stopped himself and let out an annoyed little huff of air. It lingered with self-irritation and he made a point to try and gain attention out of it. It wouldn't be the first time carelessness led him into a bad area at the wrong time and surely wouldn't be the last. Damn, he really needed a distraction.
A wave of disappointment crashed over him when nobody, not even the frantic families of patients, turned their head to see what his tiny fuss was about. Boring place, boring people, boring day. How awful was that? All he could muster was the urge to loiter about until someone needed him, but a nurse's aggravated glance sent him off with his tail between his legs. She made it quite clear than another human obstacle wasn't exactly appreciated at the moment, much to his disappointment. Shiloh turned around on his heels and practically sulked out. He check the watch on his wrist. Only a few more minutes of doing nothing, then it was to check on the crazies. Thank God.
Today was going to be the day Shiloh faced a reinforcement of a valuable lesson; Careful what you wish for. It was with a dull "thunk" near the lady's room that fate intercepted his mental state. The repetitive footfall fell silent and he came to a quick halt in front of the door of the womens' restroom. A brow raised as he stared at the door, as if waiting for something more to happen. Needless to say, it didn't. The noise had been loud enough for it to be more than someone dropping their purse. "The hell...?" he found himself muttering to no one in particular. Curiosity simmered, then boiled over. Usually, a "thud" in a hospital was not a good sign.
Before he could think, his hand was on the door knob. For a moment, the whole "Ladies' Room" factor dawned on him, but a quick reminder that he wasn't in high school anymore and that he was a doctor soothed the idea. And thank God it did. The door swung upon, Shiloh stopped dead in his tracks, and his eyes widened to their fullest. "Oh, crap," was all he could mutter as he saw the half-dead body on the floor.
It didn't take any years of medical school to do what happened next. Shiloh barely breathed as he darted to her side and instantly took in the details of the scene. The needle, the injuries, it all told exactly what they needed to tell. Everything seemed to be the tell tale sign of a suicide attempt. Enough years in the psychiatric ward left him capable of telling that. What really pissed him off though, was the fact that she was in a hospital gown. How long could she have been here for a doctor not to see the warning signs? Shiloh grit his teeth in rage. Some attending doctor was going to get an earful for this one.
"I need a crash cart in here!" he shouted at the top of his lungs. Within moments, his request was answered. Before he knew it, they had her on a gurney, the drugs flushing out of her system, and they were making a mad attempt at stability. Shiloh had more than enough motivation to help when needed, but most of his attention was directed towards how to greet the girl when she opened her eyes. Honestly, he thought that suicidals were the worst to deal with. It was just all so depressing. And what's worse, they're perfectly sane. He could deal with mental illness, but depression just sucked. Oh well, it was his duty.
Once all that could be done was done, Shiloh slumped exhausted into a nearby chair. The thought to strap the girl down crossed his mind, but he blinked it away. Not yet. She didn't need that kind of stress. Then, that boiling anger he pushed away in the heat of panic spilled over.
"Hey!" he shouted to the ER. Even though he gazed at the ceiling, he could feel the burn of everyone's eyes now staring into him. Good. "Who the hell was the doctor originally attending to this young lady?" He made sure to put emphasis on the "originally". As far as he was concerned, whoever it was wasn't getting control over her case again until he heard a decent enough reason for leaving her alone. After all, in most suicide cases, there are always signs. Ignorance was something Shiloh Webb could barely tolerate.
And thus was the end of the boredom.
