At a first glance Kutner would indeed fit the stereotypical East-Indian doctor image. But of course, only at a glance; even stereotypes had personalities. He doesn't mind following protocol according to dress code - but he's not going all out like Forman with a tie and an ironed button down shirt. He dresses casually out side of work as well, and sometimes one has to wonder where he gets those awful sesonal sweaters.Being the only one on House's team with any real hair to speak of, it's noticeable that he doesn't put much effort into it. But all in all his casual appearance is passable - even if it means he often resembles a highschooler dressing up in a labcoat.
Kutner stands at 5'10" a fairly average build. He's got wide shoulders and seems to be in decent shape - minding of course that he probably indulges himself on a whim and doesn't work out.
His nose is quite blunt and rounded, and bottom lip is full and the top shaped in a bow's arc. It sounds poetic, really, which is why any standard, conventional description does Kutner no good at all. He's the type of guy who's defined by his presence - and well all know that sort.
Personality:
There's always some humor to Kutner, and unless the life of his patient is on the line he is usually too curious to focus on the case. He's always up for a joke, a prank, or a clever set-up, but he has a hard time keeping anything to himself that usually gets him in more trouble for it.
Kutner, in a lot of cases, reminds his team members of a child. An indulgent, carefree kid. Mostly, they're right. He's dealt with a lot of things in the past including his parents' death when he was six and being adopted by a Jewish family that unconciously ostracised him. He was even considered 'different' (which he covertly revelled in) and something of a non-violent bully. As a result he seemed to have matured earlier - but it's apparent that as soon as Kutner was able to carve out a piece of his own life he took back the childhood he was never granted. As for responsibility and duty? He feels his job as a fellow fufills him in that aspect, and he'll live the rest of it as indulgently as he wants.
History:
Kutner was fostered by a Jewish family when he was six, but never really fit in which caused him to 'grow up' some. Since then he's had a very detached, reserved philosopy about death - and doesn't mind who knows it. He's somewhat lonely, or lost, because of the murder however, and often fufills the people around him about the trivial matters in his life to forge a sense of intimacy.
When he 'grew up' Kutner became involved in medicine because he felt helping people was a satisfactory way to live his life. He graduated near the top of his class in high school, but before he moved on to medical school he was paying his tuition by selling male's fragrances in a department store - as well as other various odd jobs.
After medical school came to a close, Kutner began seeking a fellowship to increase his medical knowledge and further his career and position. He finds working under House a new and unique experience - where else is he free to cure people in such creative and interesting manners? He's even found himself to respect his team and especially his boss.
Because of his carefree, childish manner, Kutner is often the only one on the team to vote enthusiastically for unconventional methods for a diagnosis. Because of his mischivous background the man's been known to pitch in with odd knowledge or even the perfect diagnoses much to his peers' surprise.
Role Play Sample: [From a HP role-play]
Chelsea inhaled sharply through his fingers. Okay, it was a man. It wasn't a teacher, a goblin, a ghoul, a ghost or a vampire. Thanking his lucky stars, the boy got a hold of himself and matter-of-factly reached over to block the humming swarm of creatures with a swipe of his arm. Also trying in vain to keep his mouth from twitching up into a full-blown smile at the man's comments.
That smile faded a split second later as he noticed the man seemed to be reaching inside his cloaks. That could only mean one thing.
"Y-You're ridiculous." He commented quickly, finding nothing else on the tip of his tongue to distract the male. He jumped to his feet and pulled his own wand out. After fumbling with it he pointed it at the man's face, chewing the corner of his lip nervously. Chelsea was obviously trying to look something of a threat. Unfortunately with that light hair and freckles, not to mention chubby face and shaking hands, he didn't leave much of an impression. Nevertheless! "Don't you dare hurt my puffskeins." he growled, ears burning with embarrassment.
He thought he might add a little something about how the other man should keep his mouth shut about his mini one-creature menagerie and he could go fall out of some more walls, when he noticed that, well, he was a man. And a man that he didn't recognize. And after all that sunk in, the boy realized they were both in a hidden passage.
Okay, nothing fishy about that.
