Anything Else?:
His nickname was what his friends called him in high school; Jude. All of them went by nicknames and since Jason was obsessed with the Beatles at the time, they thought it fit. It stuck, now that is what he goes by almost all the time.
Appearance:
Jason has short, brown hair he likes to spike up, brown eyes, and tanned skin. He‘s a quarter Jewish; a fact for which he blames his long nose.
He is neither tall nor short at 5’ 10” and a little on the thin side. His skin is tan from spending summers at the beach. A feature his female friends are quick to tease him about is that he has unusually soft hands for a guy. As a kid(and even after) Jason avoided sports like the plague and spent his time reading or just talking.
He has the potential to be quite good looking, if he cared as much about his appearance as he does about computers, and medical mysteries. His attire is nice, if out of style. His typical attire when not working is jeans, a t-shirt, and chuck taylors.
When he is happy(or greatly amused) he shows a smile that covers his entire face and makes him look quite ridiculous. He is very big on facial expressions...there's one for every mood.
If Jason is nervous he bounces his right knee up and down. Its his only nervous habit, and he's done it since he was a little kid.
Personality:
Jason is a funny, happy person in general. He loves people, and he loves to talk. He knows how to control himself but if he let himself go he could talk for hours and hours. Possibly even days. He doesn’t pretend to be anything but what he is. What you see is what you get. The only thing he doesn’t like to talk about is his family. Mainly his mother.
Jason is sarcastic, quirky, and generally loud. He’s quick to argue, but he has a compassionate side. He’s never mean for the sake of meanness, just setting people on the right track in life. He has a hard time turning away anyone who needs his help; especially if they are cute( girls, animals, little kids....). But he isn't stupid. Jason Nelson can tell if he is being played, and he won't tolerate it. Liars, cheats, and tricksters are the only people who really make him angry.
Besides aforementioned types; He detests politics, politicians, modern celebrities, modern musicians….basically anything modern. Old music, books, and historical things make him happy. He often claims he should have been born in a different time period.
He is definitely a dork, and he admits it.
History:
Jason grew up as the only child of a multi-millionaire designer, and her professor husband.
His mother was barely ever around during his childhood. Even in his baby days, she would go weeks at a time without even seeing her son. She showed so little interest in him, by the time he was eighteen, they weren’t on speaking terms.
Jason's father, the quiet professor at a local college, was the only real family he ever had. David Nelson was the one who inspired him with a love of music, books, and the one who pushed him towards a career in medicine. He told him he always regretted being dependent on his wife for money- he didn't wish that for his son.
In his high school days Jason was looked on as quite an oddball. he had a lot of friends, but none of them knew quite what to think of him. He was the crazy, talkative, old-music loving, weirdo of a teenager who didn’t go on a single date til he was eighteen.
Because of his hatred of sports, Jason was always around after school to talk to his fellow students. The girls took great advantage of his quick whits, and talkative nature so by the time he graduated he had done more as a psychiatrist than Mrs. Leech who owned the title.
After high school Jason went to the college his father taught at, majoring in medicine. After which, he applied to Princeton-Plainsboro Teaching Hospital.
Role Play Sample:
Jason hummed loudly to himself as he walked into the hospital. One of the nurses gave him a weird look.
"Good Day Sunshine by the Beatles...look it up," Jason said as he walked by. She rolled her eyes.
Now Jason, you can do this without making a fool of yourself. No knocking over pencil jars or tripping over imaginary shoe laces today. he mentally coached himself as he pushed the elevator button.
Jason suddenly glanced down at his feet. He had carefully dressed for his interview at the hospital. New shirt, new pants. He'd even ironed everything. He had checked to make sure the outfit was clean five times. Everything had been just right....strictly professional.
Except what had ended up on his feet. His oldest high tops, previously red, but now a strange grayish-brown color, stared back at him. The laces were practically in shreds and anything that had been white on the shoes....well. Wasn't anymore.
He rolled his eyes at his own stupidity before stepping off the elevator; heading for the impending doom that was interviewing. All of his previous confidence had disappeared.
It didn't last very long. He grinned suddenly as he strolled down the hall.... For better or worse, today Princeton- Plainsboro hospital would see him for just what he was.
