It's normal to see a couple of doctors sitting at a table, with a tray of food at this hour. Yet, over at one of the tables set up, there was none of that activity going on. In the chair, sat a young redhead with her hair tucked messily behind her ear, as if it was a struggle. She had a sketchbook in front of her, and was currently chewing on what looked like a pen.
What she was doing? Nothing medical, of course. She had another open book in front of her, this book was a book on sharks. And next to the book, was a cup of ice cream. The cup had two things. A sthingy, and a straw. Perhaps she got bored of scooping the ice cream, and tried to sip it, or just felt like putting a straw into the cup.
She moved forward to the cup of ice cream, and sucked some of it from the edge. Then she went back to staring at the open sketchbook, which now had a sketch of a shark. She scribbled at it, with the pen in her hand. Why she was also holding a pen in her mouth at the same time, the world may never know.

Jason Nelson, newbie at Princeton- Plainsboro, walked through the cafeteria with his tray of food, looking for a place to sit.
His appearance was mostly neat....it was his first day after all. Best to make a good impression, he had thought.
Except for his shoes. Somehow he had ended up wearing his oldest, dirtiest, chuck taylors. The ones with the shredded laces and evil smiley faces etched into any blank spot.
He sighed, then laughed out loud at himself. It was totally something that would befall him.
Oh I hate this, he thought to himself. Being the newbie is so irritating.
He looked around at the doctors, chatting with their friends(or at least tolerable acquaintances) Everyone seemed to be sitting with someone, except...
He noticed a red haired woman sitting by herself at a table, scribbling away on a sketchbook. Jason walked up behind her.
"Mind if I sit here?" He asked, motioning to the seat opposite her. He smiled.

Samin tapped the pages of her sketchbook with her pencil, not having enough activity. Well, at least while she sat. Usually, subconsciously tapping a foot against the chairs she sat in was enough. She still ate her ice cream once and a while, checking on her book less. She noticed a handsome doctor walking through the cafeteria, and assumed he was new as well by the look on his face. She went back to her sketchbook and continued her artwork.
When he came over, she had no idea that he was there. Then when he spoke, she nearly jumped. Samin looked to the other doctor and smiled. She closed her shark book and made room for him to sit. "Sure! Sorry about the mess though..." She said, scratching her head.

"Sorry I startled you," Jason said. "I didn't mean to sneak up....Feel free to send me away any time."
He sat down, and took a bite of his sandwich before realizing how incredibly rude he was being. He hadn't even introduced himself.
"I should tell you my name if I'm going to interrupt your lunch," he said. "Jason Nelson. You can call me Jude if you like, nearly everyone does. I'm new here, if you couldn't tell." He pointed to his shoes. "Screams newbie, eh? Or at the very least 'total dork'. " He laughed.

"Oh, it's absolutely fine!" She smiled and replied as the man spoke. "I scare very easy... Oh, stay here as long as you want, really... There's not much room anywhere else." She watched as he sat down, and took a bite of his sandwich. She smiled as he spoke again.
"Nice to meet you, Jason. My name is Samin. I don't really have a nickname for it though." She shrugged. "My mother said it was too odd a name for one." She giggled. When he said he was new at the hospital, she nodded. "Me also..." When she looked down at his shoes, she smiled. "I like them! They're nice." She looked at him. "Don't worry, you're not the only dork here..."
She pushed her sketchbook away, probably in order to meet the man better. She already had her fair share of bad first impressions, and she didn't want to make another bad impression, like she did earlier.(see morning dr. House XD) She smiled at him. "Being new IS kind of hard though, isn't it? I remember going to a new school that was located in the town I grew up in. Everyone asked where I moved from..."

Jason returned the smile. "Glad to meet a fellow newbie! Samin is a neat name...I've never heard of it before. My mom wasn't very imaginative with mine, so I had to make up a better one. Actually one of my friends gave it to me; but that's a long story."
He also looked down at his shoes. "Thanks, I like them too. Old shoes are always the best. I think I'll wear nicer ones tomorrow, though. I will at least try to look professional!"
"Being new is hard! So many new people who are too quick to judge if you act a little odd, or at least that's what I've found." He took a drink of Dr. Pepper before asking her, "Have you been a doctor anywhere else before coming here?"

Samin smiled brightly once again. He was so nice, wasn't he? She just felt like she had known him for so long after just meeting him. She giggled. "I actually think my mother chose my name because she misspelled a fish." She chuckled a bit louder as she said that, but not obnoxiously.
She also looked down at them as he did. She shrugged. "I think the best kinds of shoes are the ones that you feel most comfortable in. My friend was always the crazy one with shoes. She would wear the flimsiest of shoes in the winter." She looked back up at him. "To me, as long as I feel warm in my clothing, that's great."
"Yeah... That kind of happened to me earlier... Not very pretty, if you ask me. Dr. House nearly did a face plant because of me..." She looked embarrassed. "Oh... Um not much. I was just an intern for a while when I was 20."

Jason returned her smile. He was happy to have found a new friend so quickly.
"I agree. I've never really been an 'in fashion' sort of person....I think I gave up on being cool in high school. " he grinned, remembering a couple times his peers had tried to 'de-dorkify " him. "It never really worked for me."
He took a sip of his drink as Samin continued talking. She seemed a little embarrased. "You wouldn't believe the amount of embarrassing situations I've had tripping over one thing or another. I've always been a klutz, seems like, except when it comes to medicine."
"This is my first job, actually. As a doctor, I mean. I worked in McDonald's for a few years, but that hardly counts," he before falling into silence.

Samin giggled. "As a child, I never really even cared. My babysitter, who was with me almost every day, let me wear the same thing. Every day. I think it was a jean dress, with Minnie Mouse on it? It was my favorite." She laughed. She reached over to take a bite of her ice cream and still listened. "I wasn't a big fan of High School. All the teachers loved me, but most of the students didn't..." She scratched her head. Oh, High School...
She smiled, but with understanding. FINALLY! Someone she could relate well to. "I thought I was like a bad luck omen or something." She giggled. "Everything went wrong for me. But... Chemistry was quite fun." She turned to look at him once again. "You're first job? Wait... I don't think I've eaten at McDonald's in about 2-3 years. My family has been health nuts for generations." She thought. "I think I have had one job... But I was fired the third day..." She laughed nervously.

"Your high school sounds a lot like mine," Jason chuckled. "Except most of the teachers didn't like me, as well as the students. I talked too much and asked too many questions. Funny how teachers say they encourage questions...then get irritated when you actually ask one. Although I usually asked way more than one; that might have had something to do with it. I only had a couple friends."
"Health nuts...my aunt was like that. I used to wish my dad was sometimes: he ordered take-out so many times eating something home made was like going to a restaurant."
