Appearance:
Aoife's general appearance is unremarkable. She's not plain, but not exactly the sort who would stand out in a crowd. Although her appearance isn't shabby, it's far from being prim and proper. She has a general sort of, 'I'm really no bothered about how I look' look about her as well as a little something that clearly shows that she's been roughened up by things in the past.
Her sense of dressing is one that leaves much to be desired. The only remotely fashionable things in her wardrobe are a completely black pair of Converse all stars. She would usually be seen wearing cargo pants in a khaki or brown colour with plenty of pockets. If she feels like being fashionable on an odd occasion, the pants change to skinny jeans. There isn't a single dress or brightly coloured top in her entire wardrobe. Her tops are usually plain v-necked or square necked tops in dark colours, most of them are slightly loose on her slim frame.
Aoife has a dignified appearance and walks confidently in long strides. This is often mistaken for haughtiness. She always keeps a neural facial expression, no matter what the situation is, however, it is her expressive eyes that always give away what she is thinking or what she is feeling.
Although she's normally fine, she suffers from an occasional bout of ethmoid sinusitis, which is when her eyes are slightly swollen, bloodshot and she looks more tired than ever.
Personality:
Aoife appears to be the approachable sort who would probably be a kind and sympathetic person but contrary to appearance she always been known for her sarcastic, witty and sometimes hurtful one liners that she often throws at people without realising that it might actually hurt them. She's brutally honest and dislikes even for a moment to divert her thoughts from reality. She believes in 'here and now' and for her that is all that really matters. Aoife is rather opinionated as well and doesn't believe in keeping things hushed up unless it's for a very good reason. If it must be said, it must be said. She is seen as confident and sparky.
Despite her faults, she is also intensely loyal and a team player. In a way, she likes to lead and thoroughly enjoys leadership roles, especially since she's quite a team player and often tends to be the dominating personality in the group. Contrary to what people think, she isn't completely emotionless, she just chooses to show her emotions less often and in a subtle manner. She's rubbish at admitting her feelings and likes to stay away from emotional matters as much as possible.
She tends to analyse everything and every situation as much as possible before acting on it. She's well known for her problem solving abilities and good decision making skills. Other than that, he curiosity knows no limits and often gets her into trouble. When she is afraid it tends to show but she knows how to act when she is under pressure.
She comes across as a rather callous person sometimes but she really isn't. Aoife has a very strong personal sense of justice and when she feels that something is just plain wrong, she will do anything to stop it. When there is something she feels she must see done, there is almost nothing that can stop her. Aoife is determined, very determined, so much so that it tends to scare people at times. Although normally pleasant, she is very easily angered if she thinks that something is 'unfair' or simply 'wrong'.
History:
Born in Sheffield, England to Evangeline Jones who is completely English and Tristan Jones who is half Scottish and half American and therefore holds two passports, Aoife grew up mainly in northern England, hence the strong northern English accent which makes her stick out like a sore thumb in America. Tristan and Evangeline Jones are joint owners of a very successful record company, making the Jones family really quite wealthy and because of this, Aoife's education has been the best that money could get.
Growing up, Aoife was a rebellious teenager but rebellion was quite pointless because her parents would let her do nearly anything she wanted to, within reason, as long as she kept her grades up. Although she well never admit it, she passed her GCSEs with all A*s and her A levels were just as good. While in high school, Aoife did some volunteer work with a Non Governmental Organisation, working in Cambodia but mostly Phnom Penh, that's really what inspired her. She took a gap year in Cambodia, helping out volunteer doctors and then decided she really wanted to go to med school. On her return to England, she went to med school in Glasgow, Scotland and did her internship in an NHS hospital in Sheffield.
As soon as she could, she volunteered with the same Non Governmental Organisation again and went to Phnom Penh as a volunteer Doctor. While she was there, she worked with hospitals and remote clinics around the country, witnessing some very treatable diseases in very advanced stages. It was really this experience, that hardened her and toughened her up. One of the places she'd volunteered in worked closely with a center that helped drug users who came in critically injured or had overdosed. The sights Aoife saw then, still haunt her sometimes.
Unfortunately, due to some violence around an area in which Aoife was living while in Phnom Penh, she was critically injured and needed to be taken to the closest hospital with the right medical facilities -this happened to be Singapore. Aoife nearly died due to the injuries she sustained but is now in near perfect health, only with a few scars remaining as reminders. Her parents then stepped in and demanded that she work in a hospital in a developed country. Since she didn't want to be in England, because she'd really much rather be in a new place, Princeton Plainsboro Teaching Hospital, seemed like a good idea, especially since she's decided only to stay for a few years.
Role Play Sample:(Only for first-timers or canons. At least 200 words)
Do I have to do one for the character?? Or will one I did for another character do?
-->From a Doctor Who RP site<--
Being a fan of Earth music, Adelphi liked to have it play in the console room as she worked. Currently, it was from the 21st century, one of her favourite time periods. Latin American instrumental guitar music flooded the contol room and Adelphi's boot clad foot tapped to the beat as she worked on the console, flipping switches and holding things together. It was the closest Adelphi had ever got to getting the chamelon circuit to work again and this time, she was determined to make it work.
Digging into one of her pockets, Adelphi pulled out something that resembeled a tennis ball but glowed blue, "aha!" She tossed it the object in the air and caught it with her signature grin. "Had to be it! The last place I'd look, it's always the last place I'd look!" She pulled out her sonic pen and began using it to open several pannels in order to get beneath the deep purple central column. With her sonic pen between her teeth and the tennis ball-like object in her hands, she made her way to the bottom of the column so she could fix her newly acquired spare part.
Sliding out from the bit beneath the console and closing up Aurelia's pannels again, Adelphi clearly looked pleased with herself. Dusting imgainary bits of dust from herself, she began bounding about the console, setting co-ordinates. "Where to land..."she looked around the room for inspiration and her eyes fell on a small flower pot that had a particular sweet smelling grass growing on it. She smiled, "apple grass, New Earth, it is, the city of New New York!"
Turning the washing machine knob, pumping the bicycle pump, and finally pushed down the toaster lever, Adelphi expected to either have changed course or landed. A spark from the console made Adelphi duck down. "Oh no! No no no no!" She began checking the screen whist holding on the console at the same time. A quick progression of Gallifreyan symbols told her that things definitely weren't going as planned.
If you need me to do one as Aoife, I will do.
